LSU partners with On Call International, a global provider of travel risk management solutions, to support LSU faculty, staff, students, and approved guests traveling internationally. This program provides medical, travel, and security assistance, along with emergency response services, while travelers are abroad..
Registered international travelers traveling to international destinations including U.S. territories (American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands).
Information and procedures on registering international travel is available on the Accounts Payable & Travel International Travel Webpage.
* For LSU Health Sciences Center travel, arrangements must be booked through Christopherson Business Travel (CBT). For group travel questions, contact the Office of Risk Management.
After registering international travel with LSU your travel information will be sent to On Call. Once On Call receives your trip details, the following will occur:
Pre-Travel Advisory
Depending on the risk level of your destination, you may receive a pre-travel advisory
email with health, safety, and security guidance.
Critical Incident Alerts
You will be registered to receive alerts by email if a security, health, or safety
incident occurs near your travel location before or during your trip.
Crisis24 Horizon Mobile App Access
Travelers with an LSU email address are eligible to use the Crisis24 Horizon Mobile
App and Portal for location intelligence and alerts. Trips can also be edited within
the App or Crisis 24 Horizon Portal
To optimize app functionality, enable location services and apply the recommended settings outlined in the Mobile App User Guide
Travelers are also encouraged to register with the U.S. Department of State Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). STEP provides country-specific updates and allows the State Department to assist travelers during emergencies.
All travelers are strongly encouraged to download the Crisis24 Horizon Mobile App and enable location services. This allows real-time alerts and helps security or medical teams locate you if assistance is required.
If a critical incident alert is issued for your registered location, LSU Risk Management will be notified and may contact your department. You may also receive a message by text, email, or app notification requesting that you check in and confirm whether you are safe or need assistance. Prompt acknowledgment helps LSU and On Call prioritize response efforts.
For medical, security, or travel assistance of any severity, contact On Call International at any time. For medical emergencies, contact local emergency responders first. OnCall and local emergency response numbers are available within the mobile app.
LSU monitors US State Department travel advisories. To mitigate the risk associated with travel to high risk regions, the university requires that all travel to countries and/or regions for which the U.S. Department of State has issued a travel advisory to be reviewed and approved by the International Travel Oversight Committee (ITOC). Detailed information on the university’s policy on travel to high risk areas can be found in PS-17.
Any travel intentions to regions or countries with U.S. Department of State advisory level of 3 or 4 must include separate approval request to ITOC.
The request forms are:
AS295 - Request for Travel to Restricted Regions for Individual Travelers (students or
faculty)
AS296 – Request for Travel to Restricted Regions for Student Study Trips
AS297 – Faculty and Staff Emergency Contact Form
